C25K

Bee coz I....woke up this morning with no cold it was time to get moving! Back on the C25K program. It was only 3oC outside when I ran and as this picture shows only 1 hr later it was 4.5oC - I should have waited! Every oC counts.

It was a great run, I decided to start at the beginning to ease into it but I think I might skip a few.

I had a very eggy day yesterday because I forgot I had scrambled eggs for lunch then had an omelette last night too - whoops guess it could have been worse.

I'm back in bed writing this post warming back up after my run, I had a cool-ish shower as its better for your muscles and stops the water stinging your legs when they are cold.

I'm looking forward to my walk with Jane tonight as it looks like no rain is forecasted - have a good day Bee x x

Thunderbirds are go!

Bee coz I...did the big walk on saturday with heavy none flexible boots on, I ended up walking around looking like a thunderbird character for a few days.

I never made it to the hydro pool but made a point of walking a bit each day to move the pain on. I noticed this morning my legs feel a lot better today so I'm already planning doing the walk again but in my runners to see if I get a better time and less soreness.

Weight in occurred and I am down .5kg but as I fluctuate by 1kg up or down I consider that as the same until it becomes a whole kg loss :)

Billy goes on holiday to Tassie in a few days for 11 days, I will be making the most of not having to make dinner for him or be home to do drop off's or pick ups. Stay tuned for some serious exercising as I finally ramp things up after my forced reduction due to a promise with the Dr to only walk until I'm 100% chest and cold wise. I'm also going to cut out all snacks and treats for the 11 days to get the scales to move a bit.

Better go get ready for work - bee

Birdsland to Lysterfield Lake and Back

Bee coz I....woke up and saw that the rain had stopped, I decided to go on a walk from one favorite lake to another. I had mapped it out and figured it was about 19km round trip on the fire trail tracks (not a bad guess as it was 21.3km) I wanted to do it in about 4.5hrs as I was in my hike boots due to the mud. I did it in 4hrs and 25mins with no stops on the clock.

It was a good walk, there was lots of damage evident from the rain and winds we have had over the last few weeks. Every where you could see grass that had been flattened by run off. Had to paddle across a couple of big puddles but two days of no rain and it will be all gone.

I saw lots of roo's but no wallabys, in fact I was surprised I saw so many kangaroos on the Birdsland side of the walk.

My legs a feet are already sore as my old hike boots are very heavy and solid so I walk in a different way and can now feel parts of muscles that are very angry with me. Will need to invest in a new pair of bimble boots.

Today I will have to visit the hydro pool to say sorry to my feet and legs! And tomorrow is a date with the scales for a progress check. All my clothes feel the same so I'm not expecting much change one way or the other.

Bye for now - Bee

Shortest day

Bee coz I...live in Melbourne, not sunny Queensland the weather today was crap! windy, cold and wet. Today was the shortest day of the year so technically things get better from here.

It had better stop raining soon as I really need to mow out the front, I won't bother with the back as its bogged again so the grass growth slows down.

Look at the little lemon on the floor in my picture, that's off my lemonade tree, bloody wind, I can't blame Jorja for that one, and look at my real lemons they are doing really well. All the rain has been good for my kale too.

Well I'm off to bed night night peeps - bee

B: weetabix and honey
L:scrambled eggs on toast
D: fish and berms
S: small piece of almond slice

Edited: forgot to press send so its morning now - still raining lol

A nice surprise

Bee coz I...had to work back late, I was driving home imagining what on toast I would have for my tea. I very rarely eat after 7.30pm so I was hoping to get something down my throat by then.

I had settled in my head for beans on toast but as I walked in the house I could smell something delish, billy (18yrs old) was cooking his own tea and decided to make some for me too!

It was delish, pork chop and veggies! Thanks Billy - I let him off the dishes to reward his positive behavior :)

Off to bed for an early night as today was crazy, it almost felt full moon crazy, must have been the after effects of the earth quake!

Nighty night - bee

B: crackers and dip (staff meeting)
L:avocado on crackers, yoghurt and a bowl of veggies

Earthquake in Melbourne

Bee coz I...Just feel like telling you all...we just had an earthquake in Melbourne, walls shook, windows rattled and my bed even got in on the act. It all went on for 30seconds or so and I just lay in bed.

Mental note: find out what you are supposed to do in a quake!

I'm off to sleep now as I'm tired from all the excitement - nighty night Bee

Broccoli and other green things

Bee coz I...was becoming disillusioned with the lack of action with my broccoli that I planted, I was very excited when my dad pointed out that things were starting to happen, there are a few like this now in my crop and I expect to be munching on the green stuff soon.

In other green news, I have planted Cale and an assortment of lettuce can't wait to start eating home grown goodies.

My carrots, parsnips, parsley and lemons are doing ace too!

Non green news :Mum and dad left to go home :( and I went to a punk party last night :)

Well have a good day - sorry about the boring post - Bee

B:toast
L:last hurrah fish and chip lunch as parents have now gone home :(

Lake Eildon

Bee coz I...went for a day out with my parents on Tuesday, to a place called Bonnie Doon, I got to show them that once again, Lake Eildon had water in it.

You see this lake had suffered terribly in the drought over the last 15 years, I drove over this lake about 3 years ago ( there is a bridge)and this part of it was just a dried up old river bed, in fact I drove around the side of the lake to try and find the water and gave up about 7km up the road.

This is the view now from just beside the in land side of the bridge, as you can see the water now reaches a couple of km inland of the bridge, it's amazing to see such a transformation! It's almost full - never thought I would see that again.

Yesterday I was back to work and hit the ground running (with a head cold) I have a busy couple of weeks ahead in work but that's how I like it.

I had a lovely walk with Jane last night and caught up on two weeks worth of goss and happenings - I love our walks.

In other exciting news...it's pay day tomorrow - woo hoo, billy and I would have been down to beans on toast and soup every night if they had not arrived for their holiday - thanks mum and dad! Also lucky for me I only have one utility bill this month so we are back in track!

Have a good day - bee

B:cheese crackers and fruit
L:ham and mustard sandwich, yoghurt and fruit
D: Spag Bol and naughty garlic bread

Normal healthy living will resume on Sunday!

Meat and two vege

Bee coz I...went out for a late afternoon walk with Tracy, Jorja and Max, my mum snuck out to the shops and I came home to some very homely nosh.

During the day we took a drive through the Yarra Valley up to the Upper Yarra Valley Reservoir, amazing 360o views but sadly there were no walks around it, pity because it was a beautiful day.

We did a fair few steps though as we were walking down to river tunnels then coming back up to the track and walking up and down the other side (it was like doing 15mins on the stepper)

We went in to a little town called Warburton and had a naughty lunch (reason for the post outing walk).

Popped into see Connie after dinner then I hit the sack early as I had been awake since 4am. This morning was better as I slept in until 6.20am which is late for me.

Today we are heading off to Bonnie Doon for a poke around and hopefully we will find somewhere nice to walk!

Catch you later Bee x x

B: kippers on toast
L: green tea, spinach and recotta pastry with a citrus tart
D: see pic, pork veggies and a spud
S: few jelly lollies and a coffee

How many calories in this bad boy?

Bee coz I....went out to lunch with friends and family to celebrate Billy's birthday I decided to eat this Bombay bliss pizza.

I managed to eat all but two slices ( which I gave away) blowing the calorie count for a year, especially as it was followed by a chocolate cake chaser! Lucky for me dinner last night was home made soup!

I'm thinking the scales will be up 2kg this week, but as long as I work them off the following two weeks, it was worth it.

Then I'm going into lock down, no more celebrations until the end of August! Well that's not entirely true, I have celebrations to go to, I will not be eating cake or crap, only having the odd drink.

Special mention goes out to one reader (and friend) today who is well on her way on her own weight loss journey, she is doing great and feeling the benefits of shaking some pesky kilos - keep up the good work x x

Proud owner of an 18yr old

Bee coz I...an now the proud owner of an 18yr old, this week will be full of festivities and cake.

Last night the family came over and Billy's dad (Rod) and his step mum (Jorja and Max's mum- Tracy) shouted us to pizza and cake for dinner.

It was a typical 18th, some one drank to much, vomited, and passed out by 7.30pm, lucky it was only Maxi Moo! (9months old)

We got in some caloric credits in the afternoon by going on a nice walk around a new lake that dad knew about, I think I will be back as you can walk from this lake to my usual lake and it's only about 6km's each way! - I feel a day hike coming on birdlands to lysterfield lake, lap of the lake by my tally would be about 20km.

That's it for now Bee x x

Visitors

Bee coz I...have visitors over from Tassie (my mum and dad) I have a few more victims for the lake walk.

They loved it and got to see loads and loads of kangaroos and a few swamp wallabies, swamp hems and swallows so dad was well impressed, the lake did me proud, although it look us ages to get around as we explored a few tracks and kept stopping to take photos of fungus.

They are over for Billy's birthday and I have a few days off so we are hoping to get a few more walks in.

Had been doing well on the budget food plan, then mum bought a few bits a pieces and we have been eating well but healthy ish - if you ignore the walnut and date cake and a couple of chocolates that we had.I whipped up my spicy red lentil soup and it was a big hit!

Nothing much else to report so I will say night night - Bee

Braved the scales 7kgs to go!

Bee coz I...have avoided the scales for almost 4 weeks I was beginning to start to dread going on them. I was going to stand on them yesterday for the first day of winter, but after eating chips and gravy the night before, I bottled out!

Today I was braver, I went and did as big a wee as I could muster (note this makes very little difference by the way, I tested the theory) and the scales were kind- up 2kg only I can live with that as I see to fluctuate by 1kg anyway depending on the weather (and time of the girly cycle) so it back to 7kg to go to get to my 40kg loss. When I get to the 40kg mark I will add another 10 to make it 50kg. I will give myself a year to do that.

It's very frosty in the mornings here now, this pic was taken at 7.45am, by 1.30pm it was 18oC so I went for a lunchtime stroll, wrong shoes to be walking in so I just took my time and enjoyed the sunshine.

Went out to dinner to catch up with an old work mate last night with one of the girls from work, great catching up and chatting but the night ended almost as soon as we ate the last mouthful when our old workmate said "well let's get the bill it was great to catch up" we were only there for about 1 1/2 hrs at most, I thought it was a night out and was home by 8pm.

Today will be a busy day as I have to get the house up to muster as my parents arrive tomorrow for a couple of weeks and there is washing everywhere to fold from the great (not so great) washing machine flood of the other day!

Best be off x xBee x x

B:diet shake
L:tuna and salad on seed bread
D:beetroot, hummus and Greek dip with pita bread (out with the girls for diner)
No snacks.

Welcome to winter

Bee coz I...like to rug up warm, it rains less here in winter and I like to run in the cold - I love winter. Looking at the weather forecast i will have to wait another few days (except for the jogging in the cold as its freezing in the morning)

Yesterday I gave in to temptation and had a big bowl of chips and gravy, I only managed to eat half and stopped when I was 3/4 full so I wouldn't get that horrible I've eaten to much feeling.

Today I woke up still full my poor guts are still in shock from all those starchy carbs!

I will have fruit for breakfast and a good eating day to balance it out!

- bee

B:fruit juice
L: tuna, soup
