Looks naughty but it's not!

Bee coz I ....am about to head out the door I just wanted to share last nights dinner, chopped yellow, green and red peppers with skinless chicken breast wrapped in prochutto with a tiny bit of hallumi in the centre, followed by strawberries and weight washers choc desert! It was delish and very low maintenance!

In other news I jogged 6.3km today in the rain and wind, not the best day to see if I could survive it but I did it. It was easy ish right up until the last 1km then it was hard and up hill I almost gave up but I was so close to the finish (my house) that I dug deep.

I have a long weekend so yesterday I did a 6km walk and tomorrow I will do the same track hopefully there won't be kangaroos jumping out and frightening me this time!

What was I thinking?

Bee coz I...am crazy I talked Connie into a lap of the lake only today it was gorgeous weather. Less kangaroos but that could have been the heat or more people around.

Don't know why but I decided to go on a bike ride! It was scary it's been a while and the bike is to big for me. Was a good workout but I now have a sore butt! Ah well it all counts towards my 10000 steps!

Bee coz I...needed to do something after receiving one of those sad phone calls from overseas when for that split second you are excitedly surprised to hear from a relative then you hear the split second silence and know its one of those not good news calls.

When you live to far away to be helpful and in a totally different time zone and not sure you can even believe that you won't ever see a person again there is not much you can do.I thought I'd go for a nice long walk somewhere nice rather than mope around so off I went.

It was spitting but I have wet weather gear so I donned my hike boots, weather proof jacket (has no hood!) beanie and quick dry hiking pants off I went to a beautiful lake about 15 mins away with lots of walking tracks. I planned out a 8km route and off I went. About 2km in it started bucketing down, I could have turned back but that would be like quitting and the bush is nice in the rain as you smell the eucalyptus and there is far more animals out and about, 12 kangaroos and lots of parrots were my return for walking in the wild rain.

Towards the end of the walk the water was just running down my face, my pants were drenched and stuck to me, my beanie was wet through but my feet and chest were nice and warm and dry. I also realized about 7km in that I had forgot my ear phones, I always walk with music but I had not thought about it the whole way around the giant lake. It was a nice walk and if it's dry tomorrow I might do another lap.

At the end of the walk I spotted three frogmen coming out of the lake with their tanks and fins I didn't expect that! Maybe they were checking the dam walls? I also came across this bench but decided not to stop for a rest :)

Best time to jog!

Bee coz I...am back on the jogging train I am increasing my lung capacity again. My body can handle all the walking it wants on not to steep gradients however my lungs are only up to 30mins of vigorous exercise. That's fine with me as my jogging program is 30 mins plus cool down.

Each week my plan is to up it by 5mins until I get back up to one hour. My Zumba instructor lets me duck out after 40 mins then I go on the treadmill for 15 mins to cool down then stretch. It's working! I have learned if I do longer I pay for it all day by struggling to breath and needed an inhaler.

It's been so warm that I have been compelled to exercise both ends of the day which has been good for my 10000 step challenge.

Jane and I did our best walk in months last night but we had to not talk as we went up the huge hill, that will be our indicator that we are better when we can talk going up the hill :)

Well I had better get a shower before work after a quick power walk I stink!

A new place to walk

Bee coz I...left it a bit to late to drive out to the lake I decided to go just down the road to a place I had not been to for about 18 years!

It's a water retaining basin to control water flow down the local creek. Boy is it beautiful now and a great place to walk.

Work was very busy but good and today's weather was tops!

Hair cuts, tonsils and no brakes

Bee coz I...had a crazy week this is a bit of a catch up post!

Shortly after my last post little miss Jorja went to hospital and had her tonsils, grommets and adenoids removed. The poor little thing got sick and had to stay in hospital a few nights. The afternoon she got out I stole her for a few hours from her exhausted parents and we went for a nice long walk. It was such a beautiful warm night. Jorja insisted on wearing the foot muff on the pram so she had shorts on to keep her from over heating!

In other news the brakes finally went on the car and I needed to get a few things fixed so payday saw my car having a few operations of its own- stay tuned for more exciting budget recipes this month!

Went to my friends for a cut and colour. It's funny everyone I saw yesterday said I was looking so much better! Funny what a hair cut can do. I agree the dark circles are fading and I have been of the antibiotics for 3 days now. That's a new record!

In work we are starting the 10,000 step challenge again and I'm going to spend the next four weeks walking walking walking. While it may take a few more weeks to get the lungs back up to speed I am determined to give it a bash.

Might even start the weekly weigh ins again, I'm annoyed that I have to stay on the cortisone which is a steroid for another few weeks but I know my lil lungs need it so will do as I'm told (for once)

Healthy eating on a budget!

Bee coz I...get paid monthly and I am the sole household provider towards the end of my pay cycle I have to get more creative with my meals!

Pitta pizza are a great low cost healthy option but if you are cooking just for yourself you have to have them a couple of days in a row as the pittas only have a short shelf life.

One these little bad boys I put tomato paste (from a tube keeps for weeks) spinach, zucchini, tomato, hallumi and Parma ham with the fat cut off, then whack them in the oven for 10-15 mins, you can grill but remember to grill one side first then turn over and dress!

Can't remember if I said I had a great time at fire extinguisher training? Well it was great, we got to put out a stove fire with a fire blanket and then again with an extinguisher, way to much fun to be educational!!!

The Boronia Bog Strikes Again!

Bee coz I...have the boggiest garden in Australia (may be an exaggeration) we spent a fun afternoon getting Rods van out the back yard! Boy did we have to do some pushing but victory was sweet!

Went for a nice walk last night in an area I don't know very well and to top it off I had no signal for my phone so had to rely on my awesome sense of direction. So a quick 30 min walk was easily doubled :)

Well I had better get ready for work, I'm off to do fire extinguisher training!!

Spicy Red Lentil Soup

Bee coz I....have the slow cooker cranked up with a batch of spicy red lentil soup my house smells delish!

Here is the recipe, it's easy, cheap, healthy and delish....

1 large can crushed tomatoes
1 Lt of veggie or chicken stock
Two teaspoons of chilly paste
1/2 cup of chopped spring onions
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic or fresh
1 1/2 cups of red lentils

Bung it all in the slow cooker (see pick of uncooked soup) on high for 4 1/2 hrs or low for 6 - and enjoy!

Well in other news I am feeling so much better and spent the morning spring cleaning- boring but rewarding!

I might go for a walk after dinner, then I'm off out.

Veggie dumplings - yum!

Bee coz I...can't always remember the day I'm up to I am just going to post the day number every now and then, it's past a year so I think that's enough.

Heaths Is almost 100% now and I really enjoyed going back to work. Not just because I love my job but because it was nice to buy a meal that I have not had to cook myself after over a week away from work.

Veggie dumplings (steamed) are awesome, especially from this great little place near work, very cheap, very healthy, very filling = very happy!

Had a great walk with Jane we went the full distance and while it was not our fastest time it was the first respectable time we have done since we both got sick.

It's school holidays here which means a few extra minutes in bed in the morning which is good, mind you I'm going to bed at about 9.30pm at the moment and sleeping through until 6.30am so I think my body is still paying catch up!

Day 365 - What a year!

Bee coz I...have been on my health kick for one year today I'd like to say thanks to those who read here, those who have encouraged and motivated me, 35kg's in 1 year - not to shabby hey!

Still aiming for the 40kg goal by my 40th birthday would be good!

Went for a run today just an easy one and jogged past lots of people who were chilling in the park, I thought back to the days I would jog at the school so no one would see me! It's been a good year :)

Day 364 - Walk Walk Walk

Bee coz I...listened to the Doctor and my brother and went back on the bad boys (anti biotics) at the first sign of green, I was very lucky. My health took a very fast dive and I coughed so bad for 48hrs that I was seeing stars, the Dr questioned whooping cough.

It was a different cough than the one I have had for 4 weeks so he said wait and see if the bad boys kick in after the next dose (when they would normally do) if they do it's just the germs making a second comeback and the anti biotics will see to it and if not he will test for whooping cough.

I stood in the office and though are you mad, I'm never going to stop coughing! He also said I could take a cough mixture only at night (a no no for a productive cough) as he could see I needed a night sleep.

Well sure enough the drugs kicked in like clockwork and I slept like a log! I have had two good days and now feel better than I have all month, just have a strained voice box and slight cough but I can deal with that :)

I'm enjoying walking but will skip zumba this morning as I don't want to push my luck again - lesson learned!

Jorja Leo and I went for a stroll yesterday and lucky I had the rain gear with me because the heavens opened big time, I could not convince Jorja to put her arm in as she takes the job of walking Leo very seriously! See is too cute :)

Well I have the whole day ahead of me and if it's dry I'm going to walk around the lake :)
