Day 269 - celebrating milestones

Bee coz I...realised I have mucked up my day numbers back in the 40's I Have cross checked with my calendar and I am now on the correct day number, I can't go back and fix things up as my day 250 post will be on the wrong day, so I will once again learn to live with my imperfections.

Totally off topic and i cant think of a clever segway, My clever brother has a few apps which are doing well, there are some free versions and the full versions. They are great for kids as they are animal (Australian) and the sounds they make. It amazes me how easy Jorja can use the app and she has just turned two! Keeps her amused in the car for ages. I think you can just search in iTunes for it, if I was a good sister I'd know for sure. Anyway his apps are doing very well and even got in the Australian top 25! Congrats Ian.

Well i tried not to kill Billy tonight packing for camp, he was a bit excited and was down to only coping with one instruction at a time, which had to be repeated 3 times. He survived.

Had a late but great walk with Jane tonight then hopped in to bed as it's a very early start in the morning, alarm set for 4.30am so nighty night - bee

Day 266 - unexpected date with an alien

Bee coz I....now have a jogging buddy on my sat lunchtime jog, I see how fast a jog goes when you have company. Jane is doing really well even though I went a bit faster this week (I had already done a short jog so was in warmed up mode) she did so well.

After jogging we had a fruit pick me up then I went shopping and home for sushi.

In the afternoon I decided to go see a movie. Super 8, I knew nothing about it other than it was about some kids who filmed a train crash, little did I know it was about an alien. I jumped out of my skin quite a few times to the amusement of the little boy sitting behind me, it was alright for him he had his dad sitting next to him! Hmmm wouldn't have minded his dad sitting next to me either!

Off to visit beautiful people tomorrow so over and out - Bee

Day 265 - weathering the storms

Bee coz I...have been a bit distracted and not posted this might be a long one. It's been a crazy week with it's big ups and some downs, but like everything I try to see something positive in every situation.

I'll start with the downs...
Someone who I respected and considered family and who I had tried to help and support through a difficult time really disappointed me this week.

They chose fight dirty, attacking people I love through word (via legal documents)in order discredit their character, I believe, to meet their own needs but she will say it's to meet the needs of another.

If that person truly believes what they have written then maybe they deserve my pity not because what they have written is true but because they believe it is true. It's very sad really.

What can be the positive in that - I hear you ask?

There are many...
I have had the opportunity to remind my twin brother what an amazing daddy he is. His ability to stay calm and strong and stay true to his values in order to secure his sons rights to see and have a relationship with his dad amazes me. Words written have hurt him but he chooses not to lower himself because he loves his son too much to do that.

I have been reminded that my mum and dad have never wavered in their support for me and my brother. They have guided us to become the people we are today. Over the years they have weathered a few storms with us, never jumping in to rescue us (although dad has had to do the odd sprint to catch Ian from falling out of a tree and the odd race home from work to dislodge a finger stuck in a trolley handle- that was me)  but rather teaching us to swim for ourselves. It's an amazing life lesson and I can't thank them enough for it.

It has also made me reflect on how lucky Rod (Billy's dad) and I are that our friendship stayed strong against all the odds. Maybe it wasn't all luck we have worked on it, resulting in a beautiful blended family of me, Billy, Rod, Tracy, Jorja and their new bubba that's due in September.

Now for the ups...

Had a call from Jorja last night (she is two) she wanted to know where her brother Billy was, so he said hello on loud speaker, she gabbled a bit, pressed a few buttons then hung up!  She is so funny.

Went to a conference with my work mate Libby, jam packed with awesome speakers and inspiring people. It was a long day but well worth it!
Finally my cold has shifted so looking forward to a run with Jane tomorrow and maybe a bit of boxing.

And best of all I have eaten well throughout it all think I have finally broken the link between eating and comfort!

Night all, thanks for listening - Bee

PS Connie is still AWOL!

Day 257 - has Connie gone AWOL again?

Bee coz I....have only had one message from Connie since Thursday and that said "just working out how to use the new coffee machine" when i asked if she was going to the gym I think she may have gone Absent With Out Leave from the health kick COME BACK CONNIE!

Jane who I walk with on Wednesday's (Muckers sister) decided to try jogging so on Saturday we started the couch to 5km program, Jane did really well. I just hope she can move and is not too sore! I did go easy on her.

Also on the weekend I bought boxing gloved and mitts so we are going to start boxing drill next week.

No walk for me tonight as it's blowing a gale out there so I'm having an early night. I was to late for Zumba as I worked late.

Have a good night

Day 256 - life is a circus

Bee coz I....went for a long walk last night I came across a circus, I went to the box office to see if the have animals as part of their circus and they Don't so I might go and take a look next weekend :) I don't believe animals Should be in circuses for all the usual reasons.

Had a quiet day so I went to see a move, I felt like a rebel with my fun size bag of malteses with 8 little balls of tasty goodness! I had eaten them before the movie started.

The hangover 2 was quite funny a good Sunday arvo flick.

Then I went for another long walk to wear my runners in but stopped at Rod and Tracy's as I was busting for a pee and it started to rain. I was gone about an hour and a half and when I got back Billy said "that was quick" I am glad he is not my personal trainer!

Day 252 & 253 - off to a good start

Bee coz I....was scared I was going to end up looking like branflakes from eating them everyday I decided I needed a new breakfast option. As breakfast really helps to set up my day I need it to be filling, healthy and delish. Enter my muesli mix. Its just a cheap mix with some organic nut and see mixed through. My portion size is to big but I don't care as there is no need for a mid morning snack with all that on board.

Having a great time in work as usual and met up with Connie at the gym on tues and had a great walk with Jane today, we are going further in about the same time from when we started.

Looking forward to Zumba tomorrow - I hope I make it as I am working until 7pm but I'll change like wonder-woman and head there as fast as is legal and hope I make it!

Night x x Bee

Day 251 - climb every mountain

Bee coz I....had a day off for the queens birthday holiday, I decided to make the most of it.

My friend Gee and I went for a drive to the country area that was devastated in the black Saturday bush fires. They are asking people to come back as the rebuild is well underway an small businesses need customers.

We decided to visit a waterfall that has always been one of my favorites. It looked very different than before the fires a once hidden fall could now be seen from the approach road. Although the lack of trees and greenery was a little shocking there is plenty of new growth on it's way. We walk one of the tracks by the falls and we did about 4km up and down through the burned Forrest. Very little evidence of wildlife as sadly the animals did not fair well in the fires.

We then stopped at the local bakery for a late lunch. Although half the town is still empty blocks it was buzzing.

Marysville was by far the worst hit town by the fires loosing 90% of the houses and infrastructure and far to many lives. This little town has a big mountain to climb but it's good to see it's well over half way.

Day 250 (part 2) - When was the last time you tripped over your knickers?

Bee Coz I....had a crazy day i thought a part 2 was in order.

Got up with the sparrows this morning, had a shower then jumped back in bed. Its just to cold and i am missing 30kg's of insulation this winter!

Got back up again after about an hour then headed out with the hound for a walk/ jog he is getting better at it, i only nearly fell over him twice.

then headed to the gym and Connie was there. I did a 15minute run and then we headed to the hydro pool for some recovery then to the spa for a relax.

The rest of the day was usual, then i cooked a really bad dinner, tried to sneak a few to many veggies in my fried rice that were watery (eg zucchini, mushrooms) and it went gluggy, i  microwave my rice and chuck it in a wok so my 17 yr old son thinks its fried. I should have added stock and called it risotto. it was awful and no amount of soy was going to help! on the up side the dog loved it.

I decided it was a PJ night and went to don my finest pair, as i was changing the doorbell went while i was taking of my knickers. In my hurry to be clothed while answering the door i tripped over my knickers and did a fosbury flop style dive on the bed. I regained composure and threw back on my clothes and answered the door, it was connie's husband dropping of my darts (i pretend i can play). My 17 year old won't answer the door at night, not sure if i went to hard on the stranger danger bit or fungus the bogeyman books!
Me and Ian at an age when its acceptable to trip over your knickers

Its been a while since i had tripped over my knickers but sharing it with the world - that's a first!

Day 250 - My Invisible Motivator Bella

Bee Coz I....have hit day 250, i thought this was a good day to share with you that i have had a secret invisible motivator on my journey to fitness, when i would feel the pain of asking my body to do things it had never done before like jogging, i thought of my little secret motivator Bella. When you read her story you will see why.

I was just fighting for health, she was fighting for her life....

Anabella Ringgold was born on May 27, 2009 with a rare skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB. She had the rarest form, called Recessive Dystrophic, or RDEB for short. A single gene in her body responsible for making the anchor that hold her skin to her body was defective. This caused blisters and wounds to occur all over her body, including her mouth and entire GI tract. Any kind of friction, rubbing, bumping caused blisters to form, or it caused her skin to shear clean off. Life expectancy is under 20 years due to risk of malnutrition, infection, or squamous cell carcinoma. Although pain and discomfort was constant, Bella remained bright and cheerful, bless her heart. Though currently there is no cure for EB, Bella took place in a clinical trial at the U. of Minnesota where through Bone Marrow Transplantation, she grew her sister's skin on her body over time. Unfortunately, she died from complications of transplant on October 11, 2010.

There was Bella fighting for her life and i was finding it hard to motivate myself to get healthy, the day that thought hit me was the same day i sat in the spa with Connie and decided no more road blocks or excuses. That was my Day 1. i have been so motivated since then.

Bella's family is amazing and continues to inspire me, despite the fact that her Dad Tim goes for Arsenal FC (just joking Tim). They continue to fund raise for  a cure for EB. Check out Bella's Blessings to find out more.

Thanks Bella for making me wake up to myself - Bee

Day 249 - more unconditional love & 9kgs to go!

Bee coz I....had an unexpected afternoon playing with Jorja as rod was over to pull a tree stump out, we had fun teaching Leo to jump up in the trailer, these two love each other, unconditionally, he loves her, even if she pulls his hair, hugs to tight or get a bit bossy, she loves him even if he knocks her over playing every now and then.

Day 247 - unconditional love

Bee coz I....have the ability or maybe misfortune to be easily bedazzled by shiny things, I find myself sometimes staring in awe at the beauty of an inanimate object.

I have come to realize that I can love unconditionally a set of fairy lights, a shiny pan, a mosaic mirror I even love the new LED traffic lights.

But by far (well at least until Christmas) the new love of my life is still my top, I've blogged about it before twice on day 182 and 168, bit sad really but I just thought I'd let you know.

I'm going out tomorrow night so i will wear my top it's a bit over the top for where I am going but that won't stop me. The top is silver but the colours you see in the picture is my reflection.

Bfast: crackers, cheese, veggies and fruit.
Lunch: soup, hommus on toast and yoghurt.
Dinner: 1 sausage with salad.

Day 246 - I'm not scared

Bee coz I....often go walking in the dark i'm not really intimidated by it, I am sensible though and would not walk down the bike track in the dark but am happy wondering along the main roads on my own.

Give me an odd colored sky and I think that frightens me more! If it's dark then it's just dark, happens everyday etc but a spooky sky dose not happen to often!

I think this sky spooked me because it reminded me a bit of the sky on black Saturday, glowing in spots but dark in others. Really it was just a cloud full of hail waiting to dump.

For the record some of it dumped on me when I went out to drop a birthday prezzie off to Mucker.

It was freezing today and it's going to be colder tomorrow, we don't usually get this until the end of June. I am really feeling the cold with my body insulation reduced since last winter. Plus I don't have may clothes at the moment so often have about 5 layers on, lucky I like the layered look!

Well I had better go, if your in Melbourne don't forget to rug up tomorrow x x Bee

Bfast:branflakes
Lunch: soup with hommus on toast followed by yoghurt.
Dinner: small bowl of ravioli

Day 247 - sometimes you just got to pig out

Bee coz I....have a very naughty labradoodle I had to do something I had not planed to do after work - vacuum a ton of tea out if his bed!It was Leo that pigged out!

Other than that the day went great, it's Blly's birthday today so we just hung out at home for the night! I still can't believe I own a 17yr old!

Happy birthday Billy you are a great kid even if you forget to unpack the dishwasher lol x x Bee

Bfast: branflakes
Lunch lite cheese sandwich and spicy soup, yoghurt.
Dinner: egg on toast
Snack: a small taste of the bosses cheese cake 10/10.

Day 246 - a beautiful day

Mel, Lynne and me
Bee coz I ....and my friend Lynne drove out to the country and up the hill to spend the arvo with our friend mel, we spent a long time in the car chatting and laughing.

We were so glad that the sun was out because it was freezing, we were not far from the snow fields and you could tell. The three of us had not all been together for about 15 years although I had seen each of them on the odd occasion over the years. It was a nice catch up on a beautiful chilly day.

Lynne and I stopped for coffee on the way home at healsvilles beechworth bakery, it was good, it's worth a stop if you are ever passing through.
Well I think the weekend went fast but I always love Monday's as it's the start of a new week.

Talk soon - Bee

Bfast: cereal
Lunch: salad, half a sausage I piece of white bread, I small cup cake.

Day 245 - what a week!

Bee coz I ....had a crazy week in work I just didn't have it in me to blog, sleep won.

Had an awesome week even though it was busy and I didn't get to Zumba all week, just managed to squeeze in a few walks. Did some dodgy eating but over all was 90% on track so that's ok.

I also made a spicy soup that was a wee bit to spicy so I had to give up on it, but whipped up a new batch today using 1/3 of the chilly paste and it tastes delish. I love winter as it's nice to have a bowl of soup with a sandwich or toast for lunch.

Today we had a celebration for billys birthday which is on Monday but the family got together to celebrate today as they are all sick and we could have an early dinner they they could go and rest. I also scored Jorja for a few hours midday which was a nice surprise.

My foot is still sore so I won't be doing a run in the morning, just a walk I really need to get new runners, next payday lol

Well thats it, it's off to bed for me. Big day tomorrow as a friend and I are driving 320km round trip to see an old friend, if it's cold we might even see some snow - stay tuned.

Thanks for being patient x x Bee

Bfast: branflakes
Lunch:ham and salad roll
Dinner: two slices of pizza, picked half the topping off and left the crust. I thin slice of birthday cake and 1 glass of diet fizzy drink.

Day 241 - a great idea!

Bee coz I....am working a busy week this week I will promise to post when I can.

Scales stayed the same today so 10kgs still to go. Unfortunately I will miss Zumba all week too as I am working late, plenty of walking will see me in maintenance mode for this week which is fine by me.

My little nephew is going on a holiday for 3 weeks to play with his cousin Miss T and their brand new baby so my brother made him a couple of key rings to take with him. What a great idea, cleaver Daddy x x

My brother will miss his little man but imagine the fun they will have when he gets back!
